We are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new Teen Driver Online Learning Portal at Burgess Driving School! Designed with both parents and teens in mind, this comprehensive resource will guide you every step of the way, from obtaining a learner's permit to becoming a fully licensed driver in Florida.
As parents ourselves, we understand how challenging it can be to navigate the various requirements and steps needed to help your teen achieve driving independence. That's why we've streamlined the process, putting everything you need in one convenient place. Our portal makes it easier than ever to ensure your teen is on the right track toward becoming a safe and responsible driver.
From Learner's Permit to Licensed Driver: Your Journey Starts Here
Step 1: Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) Course
The first step in obtaining a Florida learner's permit is completing the state-required TLSAE course, sometimes called the 4-hour Drug and Alcohol Course. We've made this mandatory step simple by offering it online through our new portal. And here's the best part for Tallahassee families: when you book anything through our online education portal, you'll receive a coupon to apply the full purchase price (plus all taxes and fees) toward any driving lesson package of four lessons or more. That's up to $50 in value that makes our online education totally free for our Tallahassee behind-the-wheel students!
Step 2: Florida Class E Knowledge Exam (Written Traffic Law Test)
After completing the TLSAE course, your teen will also need to pass the Florida Class E Knowledge Exam. Our portal offers the convenience of registering for the official online exam as a $20 add-on when purchasing the TLSAE course. We also offer an online practice test to help your teen feel confident and prepared ($10).
Whether you book just the TLSAE, the TLSAE and Exam Combo, or the TLSAE, Exam and Practice Test Combo, you'll receive a coupon, allowing you to apply the full purchase price (up to $50) to any driving lesson package of four hours or more. Our portal ensures that the test results are automatically sent to the state driver database, streamlining the process for you and your teen.
Step 3: Complete the Parental Consent Form
Finally, don't forget the Parental Consent Form. This form is required for all new teen drivers (ages 15-18) to obtain a Florida learner's permit. We've made it available as a free download on our portal, so you can easily complete it at home. Bring the signed form along with the TLSAE certificate of completion to your local DMV when your teen is ready to get their permit. The DMV will notarize the form.
